Fleeting moments. They could be the ones making or breaking a situation, but at the same time, and in the midst of appreciating what is to befall us after we experience those fleeting moments, they tend to be so easily forgotten, their very essence tossed into a bin of relegated importance. But then again, I guess it's just as easy for us to be "in the moment" as it is for us to forget those little fragmented moments which provided us the channel to be there in the first place. It could be somewhat unfair to lay an entire blanket over this thought, but dare one say he lingered - and hence, appreciated - more in the pre-situation than he did in that of the present? Granted, if it were to be something ominous, then I suppose those seconds of anticipation may have served a longer purpose of a higher value, notwithstanding its split-second nature, and that the hypothetical man may have thought of holding onto that metaphorical hourglass for just a little while longer.
